This small oval sea is the middle part of the Turkish Straits which connect the Meditteranean and Black Seas. More precisely it connects the Dardanelles3 to the Bosporus4. The waters separate Thrace in Europe from Anadolu5 in Asia and reach 1207 meters deep. It is named for the largest island in the sea. It is deemed part of the Atlantic waters.
