Description

This strait separates the Gelibolu2 Peninsula of Thrace in Europe from the northwest corner of Anadolu3 in Asia and is the westernmost of the three parts of the Turkish Straits, which are Atlantic waters. It connects the Aegean Sea--part of the Mediterranean--to the Sea of Marmara. It is 31 nautical miles long, 1.6 to 6.4 kilometers wide and 45 to 90 meters deep.
