Davis Strait

Description

This strait connects Baffin Bay to the Labrador Sea. (Some maps consider the passage through the Labrador Sea to the rest of the Atlantic Ocean as part of the strait.) At its narrowest it is 164 nautical miles wide and its depths reach 1700 meters. Exactly where in the north the strait ends and Baffin Bay begins is not well defined. Icebergs drift southward into the open Atlantic with the assistance of the Labrador Current.
