Townsville is located on the central coast of Queensland, Australia, on a small bay west of Cape Cleveland and south of Magnetic Island. A small river cuts through the city, and a tall red granite hill towers over the center of the business district. It had a 2001 population of 120 thousand.1 It is served by one of Australia's busiest airports.2 The tallest building is the 20 story Holiday Inn, nicknamed the 'Sugar Shaker.'3
