Description

This passage, about 30 nautical miles long, connects the North Sea to the English Channel and separates southeast Britain from the continental mainland by 34 kilometers. It is part of the continental shelf waters of the northeastern Atlantic Ocean. A railroad tunnel crosses the strait.
