City of Saint John

Saint John, the capital of New Brunswick Province, Canada, is located where the Saint John River flows into the Bay of Fundy. At that point the difference between high and low tides is 8 meters, giving rise to the city's 'reversing falls.' The city's metropolitan population is 117 thousand, with 96 thousand of those within the city limits.1

The city is an important grain port.2

The tallest building is the City Hall (1970, 15 stories).3 Other buildings of note are the City Market with a ship's hull for a roof (1876) and the Carleton Martello Tower (1813).
