Reynosa-McAllen

Reynosa-McAllen is a bi-national metropolitan area of 1.846 million residents1 with Reynosa in Tampaulipas having 589 thousand2 and McAllen in Texas having 137 thousand,3 separated by the Rio Grande (English)/ Bravo del Norte (Spanish) river. The cross-border trade, taking advantage of the violent opposition to labor organization in the border area of México, is the chief reason for the growth of the urban area. The tallest building in Reynosa is the Hotel One Reynosa (152 feet, 2011); the tallest in McAllen is the Chase Tower (223 feet, 1979).4
