Real de Catorce

Real de Catorce (or just Catorce),1 sometimes just called Catorce, is a village in the Sierra de (Mountains of) Catorce in northern San Luis Potosí State, México. As of 2010 it has a population of just over one thousand.2 Its population rose with silver prices, first around 1800 and again in the late 19th century; the falling with the metal's price in the 20th century. It is a place of pilgrimage from Wixarika (Huichol) people.3
