Hobart

Hobart is on Tasmania Island on the Derwent River where it opens out into Storm Bay. It is the capital of the state of Tasmania and Greater Hobart has a population of about 216 thousand.1 Hobart International Airport, one of Australia's busiest,2 is located about 16 kilometers to the city's northeast. The tallest building is the 19 story Wrest Point Casino, completed in 1973. Other notable buildings include the hilltop St. George's Anglican Church (1838-1888) in the Greek Revival Style and a synagogue in the Egyptian Revival Style.3
