Gulf of Aden

Description

This arm of the Arabian Sea, and hence part of the Indian Ocean, lies between the south shore of Yemen(1) and Somalia. It tapers westward until it reaches the Strait of Mandab(2), which connects it to the Red Sea. Depths drop below 4,000 meters. An indent into Djibouti, the Guolf of Tadjoura, is its only major irregularity.
