This part of the Arctic Ocean lies north of the Bering Strait, and is bounded southwest by eastern Rossiya (Rossija or Russia) and southeast by Alaska. Its northern limit is not well defined except by Wrangel Island. It lies entirely on the continental shelf, and south of the limit of permanent pack ice. Its arm is Kotzebue Sound.
