Chuhuahua is dominated by the Western(1) Sierra Madre(2) mountains and the dry plateau to their northeast, which reach above 3000 meters. The Rio Bravo del Norte (Rio Grande) flows along the northeast, heading southeast. Lakes are generally small; the Boquilla Reservoir is the largest body of freshwater.
This is one part of a large area of the Americas where Spanish and Roman Catholic Christianity represent the majority.
Juárez, Chihuahua, part of the metropolitan area that includes El Paso, Texas, is the state's large city.
Uzo-Aztecan languages were originally spoken in northwestern México near where Sonora, Sinaloa and Chihuahua meet and further southeast. The Aztecs(3), who spoke Nahuatl(4), migrated south from this area in the early 12th century.
