Charlottesville

Charlottesville has a metropolitan population of 190 thousand1 and is located along a the Rivanna River, a tributary of the James. It is famous for the architecture of the University of Virginia, and Monticello, the nearby estate of former national president Thomas Jefferson. Together these constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
