Charlotte

Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America, is located in the Piedmont of the Appalachian Range east of the Catawba River. It has a metropolitan population of 1.975 million1 of which 775 thousand live in the city proper.2 The tallest building in early 2014 was the Bank of America Corporate Center (60 stories, completed 1992). Its lobby features a large secular fresco by Ben Long and the building's top is lit at night to represent Queen Charlotte's tiara. Another famous building is the Hearst Tower (2002) with a statue in front called the Castellan that was created Howard Ben Tre.3 The Charlotte-Douglas airport is one of the nation's busiest.4
