Charleston, West Virginia

Charlestonthe capital of West Virginia, is located at the juncture of the Kanawha and a minor river,1 and has a metropolitan population of 304 thousand.2 The tallest building is the 20 story Kanawha Valley Building, built on the site of the former state capitol, which burned in 1921. The current river-facing capitol boasts the largest dome of the USA state capitols. Another building of note is Boulevard Tower, also called the United Carbon Building, whose decor of gold and black reflects the corporate colors of the carbon black company who had it built.3
