Cairns is located on the coastal strip below the Atherton Tableland in northern Queensland, Australia, north of Cape Grafton and south of the Barron River. It had a 2001 population of 99 thousand.1 It is a major tourist destination both for the offshore reefs and the forests of the Great Dividing Range. A scenic railway and skyway server the latter. One of Australia's busiest airports serves it.2 The tallest building is the 16 story Cairns Corporate Tower.3
