ਅੰਮਿਰਤਸਰ (Amritsar)

ਅੰਮਿਰਤਸਰ1 (Amritsar),2 the capital of ਪੰਜਾਬ (Panjāb),3 a state of भारत (Bhārat).4 Located in the northwest of its state, it has 1.184 million metropolitan residents,5 with 1.133 million in the city itself.6 It Its two greatest monuments are the Golden Temple,7 the Sikh's most sacred shrine, and the Akal Takht,8 one of the five 'takhts' of the Sikh religion. The city is a tourist destination,9 and is served by the nearby Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, one of the nation's busiest.10
