ਅੰਮਿਰਤਸਰ (Amritsar)

ਅੰਮਿਰਤਸਰ¹ (Amritsar),² the capital of ਪੰਜਾਬ (Panjāb),³ a state of भारत (Bhārat).⁴ Located in the northwest of its state, it has 1.184 million metropolitan residents,⁵ with 1.133 million in the city itself.⁶ It Its two greatest monuments are the Golden Temple,⁷ the Sikh's most sacred shrine, and the Akal Takht,⁸ one of the five 'takhts' of the Sikh religion. The city is a tourist destination,⁹ and is served by the nearby Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, one of the nation's busiest.¹⁰
