Al-'Aqabah (or Aqaba) is a city near the southern tip of الادنن (al-'Urdunn or Urdun or Jordan) at the head of the Gulf of Aqaba, with a population of nearly 112 thousand.1 Immediately to its west is אילת (Elat), ישראל (Yisra'el or Israel). Traditionally it is a commodity port,2 although future port expansion may take place to its nearby south. Tourism is increasingly important.
