Zürich is located in north central Helvetia (Schweiz in German, Switzerland in English) at the north end of a lake that bears its name. The old town spreads on both sides of the Limmat River1 between hills. It has a metropolitan population of 1.140 million2 with 380 thousand in the city proper.3 The airport is one of Europe's busiest.4 The tallest building is the Prime Tower (Maag-Tower) at 36 stories, completed in 2011. The Grossmünster Church is about half its height.5 The city has a famous traditional art museum and hosts the headquarters of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The Zwinglian (Christian Protestant) and the Dadaist movement both started in the city.
Remnants of Neolithic lake-side dwellings at two places are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.6
