Zagreb

Zagreb, the capital of Hrvatska,1 is located along the north bank of the Sava River2 and south of Medvednica Mountain. It has a metropolitan population around 1.107 to 1.244 million3 and a municipal population of 803 thousand (688 thousand with outliers subtracted).4 The city grew significant in the first half of the 20th century. The tallest secular building as of early fall 2018 is Euro Tower I (318 feet, 2006). Taller is the Zagrebačka Katedrala, a Roman Catholic cathedral (345 feet, 1906).5 The metropolis is served by the Franjo Tudman Airport, the nation's busiest,6 in nearby Velika Gorica (municipal population 65 thousand or, with outliers excluded, 32 thousand.4)
