Weimar

Weimar, Deutschland,1 is located southwest of metropolitan Halle-Leipzig and northeast of the Thüringer Forest, along the river Ilm, a tributary of the Saale (and ultimately of the Elbe). The city has 65 thousand residents.2 Its famous buildings include Goethe's house, Schiller's house, Belvedere Palace, the Dowager's Palace and the Haus am Horn. The last illustrates Bauhaus architecture and is part of a World Heritage Site; the others are from the 18th century classical period and are part of the Classical Weimar World Heritage Site. That site also includes the Princes' Tomb and the Historic Cemetary, where Schiller and Goethe are buried.
