Умань (Uman') has less than 90 thousand residents.1 It is located in the Pre-Dnipro Uplands2 of Україна (Ukrayina or the Ukraine), on a headwater of the Synyukha River, which is a tributary of the Pidvennyy Buh. It is known for an 18th century water park, Sophievka Park, and is a pilgrammage site for some Hasidic Jews. It is also remembered as the site of a war time massacre of Jews and Poles in the 18th century.
