Ṣūr is the modern name for an ancient city in لبنان (Lubnān or Liban or Lebanon). It is located on the Mediterranean coast, north of the border of ישראל (Yisra'el or Israel), and has 43 thousand residents.1 The Phoenicians called it Ṣur, the Greeks Týros and the Romans Tyrus. 2 It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site honoring its history from the Phoenician era up through medieval times, and is a popular tourist destination.
