Siena

Siena is a city of 55 thousand1 situated amongst hills between the headstreams of the Arbia River1 in its own province, in the Toscana3 Region of Italia.4 Its walled historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This includes streets, plazas, fountains and their supporting structures, houses and public secular and religious buildings. The two most important buildings are the Palazzo Communale di Siena (also called the Palazzo Pubblico5) with its campanile tower, and the hill-crowning Duomo of Santa Maria,6 with exterior and interior work done by Giovanni and Nicolà Pisano.7
