Sankt Gallen

Sankt Gallen is a city of 70 thousand1 located in northeastern Helvetia (Schweiz or Switzerland) between Lake Konstanz (Constance) and the Appenzell Alpen (Alps). It is famous for its Convent of St. Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Convent was started in the 8th century and has a library with 400 volumes over a thousand years old. It was re-modeled in the 18th century in the Baroque style, and secularized in 1805.2 Perhaps the tallest building today is the Kantonsspittal St. Gallen Haus 04, a hospital finished in 1975.3
