Rapperswil-Jona

Rapperswil-Jona, formed by merging Rapperswil and Jona at the beginning of 2007, is located toward the south end of Lake Zürich. It is at one end of a bridge crossing the lake and is on the minor Jona River that flows into the lake. It has a population of 25 thousand.1 Within and at the edge of the municipality are the remains of pile dwelling settlements that are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.2
