Ponferrada

Ponferrada, a city of nearly 70 thousand,1 is located on the right (north) bank of the Sil River, a tributary of the Miño (Minho), in León Province, in Castile and León Autonomous Community, España (Spain). It is along one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostella; the routes in Spain constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tallest modern building--the tallest in the autonomous community--is the Torre (tower) de la Rosaleda (328 feet, 2008).2
