Ogbomosho

Ogbomosho, also called Ogbomoso, is located in the center of Oyo State.¹. Its metropolitan population in 2009 was over 1 million but its city population only just over a quarter million². The majority speak Yoruba and are probably Christians.

Population in 2000 is hard to guess since the 1991 city figure is nearly twice the size of the 2009 figure, which makes me distrust the comparability of the numbers. I would hazard a guess that given Nigeria's typically high urban growth rates that Ogbomosho had less than a million metropolitan residents at the start of the new millenium.
