Montreux

Montreux is located on the northeast end of lake Genève (Geneva) in western Helvetia (la Suisse or Switzerland). The city proper has only about 22 thousand residents but the Montreux-Vevey agglomeration has 85 thousand.1 The city was formed in 1962 by merging Montreux-Les Planches and Montreux-le-Châtelard. It is a tourist destination for its lakeside prettiness, and its rock and roll associations (Deep Purple, Queen).2 The tallest building is the 25 story Tour d'Ivoire, a residential tower.3
