How is the land laid out?

The province centers on the Liao River's plain, part of the Northeast China Plain. To the west are low mountains, in the interior the beginning of desert and to the east the end of the Changbai Mountains and the peninsula that marks their extension. Along the province's southwest coast is a narrow plain, the Liaoxi Corridor that is a gateway into the region.

The Liao River flows from Inner Mongolia through the flatlands and ends in two widely spaced distributaries. The Yalu flows along the Korean border to the sea.

Who lives there?

The capital of Liaoning Province in central_and_northeastern China is Shenyang(3), and this industrial province also claims Fushun, Anshan, Dandong, Benxi, Dalian(4) and eight other cities (shi) with a million or more residents.
