León, Castile and León

León, a city of nearly 132 thousand,1 with a metropolitan population of nearly 202 thousand,2 is located on the left (east) bank of the Bernesga River,3 in its eponymous province, in Castile and León Autonomous Community, España (Spain). It is along one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostella; the routes in Spain constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tallest modern building is the Doctor Flemming 2 (179 feet, 1970).4
