Konstanz

Kontstanz (Constance) straddle the Rhein (Rhine) River where it exits the Bodensee (Lake Constance), on the southern border of Deutschland (Germany). It has a population of 86 thousand.1 The cathedral (Münster) is probably the tallest building in the city.2 There are the remains of Neolithic pile dwellings in the city, and these are honored as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.3

2. Emporis.com puts it at over 249 feet, much taller than the taller of the two observation towers, and presumably taller than the 7 story Hohes Haus.

The modern names for the ancient remains are Wollmatingen-Langenrain (occupied 1000 to 500 BCE), Konstanz-Hinterhausen (occupied 4000 to 3500 and again 3000 to 2500 BCE) and Litzelstetten-Krähenhor 32 (occupied 3960 - 3805 BCE). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_Pile_dwellings_around_the_Alps, accessed 11/19/2013.
