Elvas
Elvas is a city of over 23 thousand1 located on a hill not far from the Guadiana River in the Alto Alentejo Intermunicipal Community of Portugal. Its star fort and other fortifications earned it UNESCO World Heritage status; it is said to be the largest bulwarked dry ditch system in the world.2
