Dunkerque is a city of 92 thousand1 located along the North Sea coast in the Nord (North) Department in the Nord-Pas de Calais (North-Strait of Dover) Region of France. The belfries of both its City Hall and of St. Eligius Church are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site honoring belfries of Belgium and France. The city was largely destroyed by Allied forces in World War II. The tallest buildings are the Tour du (Tower of the) Reuze (1974, 246 feet, 24 stories) and the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall, 1901, towers reach 246 feet).2
