Cancún

Cancún is a resort city located on the Strait of Yucatán in Quintano Roo State, México. In 2010 it had a metropolitan population of 676 thousand1 but another source put the city proper's population at 723 thousand in the same year.2 The airport that serves the city is one of México's busiest.3 Buildings of note include: the 361 foot Torre Escenica, an observation tower; 203 foot Hotel Riu Cancún (2003, 16 stories); Cancún Center (1994), a conventional facility; and Plaza Forum by the Sea, a shopping center. The tallest buildings are the torres (towers) Miami, Barcelona and Vancouver (each 318 feet and 25 stories).4
