Bielefeld, Deutschland,1 is the center of a metropolitan area of 1.4 million, although the city proper has less than 400 thousand. It is located by the Teutoburger Wald2 in the north center of the country. It boasts a 13th century castle and a church that yielded some of its altar pieces to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art; its highest buildings are a TV and a cooling tower.
