Bhopal, the capital and second largest city of Madhya Pradesh(1), India(2), has 1.7 million residents (2007). It is located in the Malwa Plateau just north of the Vindhya Range. Its chief attractions are the Taj-ul-Masajid(3) mosque and the Bhoj wetlands: two urban lakes.
