بنغازي (Banghazi or Bengazi or Benghazi)

Founded in the seventh century B.C.E. as Hesperides, it was renamed Berinice in the 3rd century B.C.E. from which the modern name, Banghazi,1 derives. It is the center of the Moslem Sensui brotherhood. It is located along on the east short on the Gulf of Sidra. It has 1.1 million residents.2 The tallest building is the 16-story Tibesti Hotel.3
