بنغازي (Banghazi or Bengazi or Benghazi)

Founded in the seventh century B.C.E. as Hesperides, it was renamed Berinice in the 3rd century B.C.E. from which the modern name, Banghazi,¹ derives. It is the center of the Moslem Sensui brotherhood. It is located along on the east short on the Gulf of Sidra. It has 1.1 million residents.² The tallest building is the 16-story Tibesti Hotel.³
