Bandung

Bandung is located in a high basin in West Jawa Province, Jawa Island, Indonesia, near the polluted Tarum River. Its metropolitan population is between 6.725 and 7.889 million,1 with 2.575 million in the city limits.2 The tallest building as of late 2017 is the Newton The Hybrid Park Apartment A (32 stories, 397 feet, 2016).3 The city was a colonial refuge from the warmth of lower altitudes, only growing large after independence in the mid-20th century.

Bandung has one of the nation's busiest airports: Husein Sastranegara International.4

1. The lower figure is the 2012 figure from world-gazetteer.com, accessed February 6, 2013. The higher figure is from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_areas_in_Indonesia, citing the 2010 census and accessed February 14, 2017. The difference can reasonably be assumed to be caused by what settled areas are included.
