Ashdod

Ashdod, is a city on the coast of ישראל (Yisra'el or Israel), south of Tel Aviv and north of the Gazzah Strip. It has a population of just under a quarter million1 and is a major port for phosphates and potash.2 It is a planned city built on dunes, adjacent to a classical port that served an ancient city of the same name located a few kilometers inland. The tallest building is the Psagot HaMarina A, a 20 story residential tower. Also of note is the MonArt Center, serving the visual and performing arts, whose glass pyramid at the entrance echoes that of the Louvre.3
