A Coruña-Oleiros-Arteixo

A Coruña-Oleiros-Arteixo is a metropolitan area of over 408 thousand,1 that includes the cities of A Coruña, with a population of over 246 thousand,2 Oleiros, with a population of almost 34 thousand,3 and Arteixo, with a population of over 31 thousand.4 A Coruña is located on a promontory next to a bay, in its eponymous province in Galicia Autonomous Community, España (Spain). Oleiros is a commuter community on the opposite (east) side of the bay. Arteixo is a petroleum refining city west of A Coruña, along the Atlantic shore. The metropolis's tallest building is the Torre Costa Rica (Rich Coast Tower, 389 feet, 1975) but the Large Chimney of Sabón Power Station is taller at 656 feet.5 The 'Tower of Hercules' at A Coruña, the world's oldest functioning lighthouse, is honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits on a 57 meter rock, and the original Roman lighthouse (1st century, 'Tower of Brigantivm') is 34 meters high. It was topped later with two smaller levels and 'restored' in neoclassical style in the 18th century.6
