Who lives there?

The majority of the more than 20 million people living here speak Russian and are Russian Orthodox Christians, at least in cultural background. The most notable exception is Tuva, where the Tuvan language and Lamist Buddhist describe about two-thirds.

There are two cities with more than a million residents: the district's capital, Novosibirsk and Omsk.
