보산 (Pusan, also transliterated as Busan), is a city with a metropolitan population of 4.435 million1 located on the southeastern coast of 대한 (Daehan or South Korea). The city itself, which has a population of 3.549 million,2 straddles the Naktong (Nakdong) river at its mouth, though its historic center is on the left (east) bank.
The tallest building in early 2016 is the residential 'Doosan Haeundae We've the Zenith Tower A' (988 feet, 2011) but a much taller tower is planned.3
The city grew tremendously during the Japanese colonial period and during the Korean civil war, both in the 20th century.4
Tourists enjoy Haeundae Beach toward the summer.5
The city is served by Gimhae International Airport, one of the nation's busiest.6
The port is one of the world's most important for handling containers.7
