Chelyabinsk

Chelyabinsk(1), the capital of its oblast, in the Ural Federal District of Russia(2), has about 1.3 million metropolitan residents. It is on the Miass River, in the east slopes of the southern Urals. It was founded as an 18th century fortress and is today the oblast's administrative capital and one of its two industrial centers.
